Do I need to buy a house to live in Mauritius?
In order to live in Mauritius, you can either buy a house of a minimum value of USD 375,000, or apply for an Occupational Permit (OP). We can assist you with both.
Can I rent a villa or an apartment in Mauritius?
If you hold an Occupational, Permanent Residence or Retired Permit, you do not need to buy a house in Mauritius. Instead, you are allowed to rent a property of your choice anywhere on the island.

While there are English and French institutions, most schools teach both languages, along with a few others at more basic levels.

Do I need to apply for health insurance in Mauritius?
It is highly recommended to apply for health insurance before you move to Mauritius, especially considering the high costs often associated with in and outpatient treatments at private clinics.
As a European citizen or French national registered with the Caisse des Français de l’Étranger (CFE), you will be happy to learn that, having lived in Mauritius for a minimum of 3 months, you are allowed to apply for CFE medical cover, claimable at selected Mauritian healthcare institutions.
